Vocal Toning and Harmonic Singing

Your body is the ultimate healing instrument!
Vocal Toning is a powerful sound healing technique that utilizes the resonances of your voice.
Both your head and your chest function as resonance chambers for your entire body.
The repeated toning of vowels creates powerful reverberations from the inside out that then continue
to echo within your mind, long after the chanting stops.
You here learn how to use your voice to relax your body and mind, and to release negative emotions.
Vocal toning will reduce your stress level, improve your concentration and even self-esteem. No prerequisite is needed: Vocal Toning requires no skill or singing talent, anyone can do it.

What is overtone singing?

Overtone singing is a vocal technique that creates the auditory impression of polyphony by filtering individual overtones from the sound spectrum of the voice by controlling the resonances in the vocal tract in such a way that they are perceived as separate tones.

Sound Immersion/ Bath

A sound bath is deep listening experience born from an ancient form of meditation that today is a wellness trend.
Sound bathing utilizes sound waves to cultivate and support deep relaxation through submerging the mind in reverberations of sound.
A Sound Bath can take you on a sonic and meditative journey. While you lie down comfortably with your eyes closed, various instruments, such as gongs and crystal bowls, are played in a special way to calm the nervous system, relax the body and soothe the mind.
The states that often result in these sessions are clear and peaceful states of mind and directly engage the body’s natural healing processes.
You do not have to do anything in a sound bath but relax and immerse yourself in the vibrations and sounds.
You are encouraged to freely drift off, wherever your meditative journey may take you.
The sound bath experience generally promotes heightened awareness, a deeper connection with one's self, a release of emotions, reduction of pain, profound realizations, and much more.
Everything in the universe, everybody, every plant, organ, and cell, resonates to vibrations at a particular frequency. When you feel unwell, it’s because you’re “out of tune,” so to speak!
Furthermore, Sound Waves travel up to five times more efficiently through water. As the human body is made up of more than 70% of water, it is sensible that the vibration of sound waves and their resonances affect us on a cellular level.

Consequently, a sound bath will get your energy field back in harmony, and through slowing down your brain wave facilitate a pleasant shift in your sensations.
The best part about a sound bath is that all you have to do is nothing more than breathe, relax and listen!

No Water is involved!

No preparation is needed, just get well hydrated and wear comfortable clothes.

What you may wish to bring, if not already provided, is a yoga mat. You may also want a pillow, a blanket, an eye mask, or a bolster. The goal of a sound bath is not to pay attention by focusing on your listening, but rather to let the sound wash over you, like a bath. All you have to do is just lie back and absorb.

It’s not just your ears that benefit

Sound baths boast multiple physiological benefits that are supported by science. These include: a slower pulse, a decreased heart rate, lower blood pressure, and deeper breathing, just to name a few. The sound vibrations also help move emotion, allowing you to purge grief, sadness, and anger in addition to physical pain. All together, these calming effects boost your immune system’s functioning, resulting in your benefits continuing long after your sound bath session is over.

Detach from the outcome

Drop any expectations There is no single universal reaction to a sound bath. Every experience is different. During the process, you might feel vibrations, a sense of transcendence, sink into a meditative state, or an emotional release. Whatever your experience may be, it is all good. So let your feelings arise and then let them go.

Silence at the End

Before closing the session, you are generally given a few minutes to individually reflect upon and feel the resonance and the silence. Allow for this time until you are gently called back to end the session together. Actually, It is the most important part of the session and is called 'Shunya'.

Ease out of your sound bath

After a sound bath, take some time for self-care. Allow any toxins to flush out by drinking a lot of water. Make sure you don’t have stressful or loud activities immediately after your sound bath. Ideally, you can just go home, enjoy some solitude, and have a herbal tea before drifting off into one of your best sleeps ever.

Who Can Join

Sound Baths are suitable for people of all ages from young children to the elderly. There is no contraindication, but caution for those with pacemakers, risky pregnancies and ear problems. Women who are pregnant can join after twelve weeks and should stay at the far back of the room away from the gongs.

Benefits of regular Sound baths:

• Stress Reduction.
• Deep relaxation.
• Reduced anxiety.
• Lowering of blood pressure.
• Promotion of deeper sleep.
• Balancing both hemispheres of the brain.
• Cells receiving a sonic massage.
• Cleansing negative energy and emotions.
• Connecting with your higher self.
• Increasing vital energy flow, creativity, intuition and motivation.
• Removing inner blockages and toxins.
• Strengthening the immune system.
• Helping to release and clear old self-limiting patterns of behavior, habits and ways of thinking, that no longer serve you and are harmful to your health.

The Science Behind Sound healing:

Sound is vibration, or waves of air molecules oscillating as a result of the rapid, back-and-forth movement of an object

Frequency is the speed of the vibration, and this determines the pitch of the sound. It is only useful or meaningful for musical sounds, where there is a strongly regular waveform. Frequency is measured as the number of wave cycles that occur in one second. The unit of frequency measurement is Hertz (Hz for short).

A fundamental principle of sound healing is that our body supports an underlying energy field which generates symptoms of emotional, physical and mental behaviors; if we change the energy field we change the resulting behaviors.
Equally every part of our body displays synchronistic frequencies, if part of our body is out of sync with the rest that part may become, or already be, dis-eased. Sound has the capacity to synchronize our body frequency. “Continued and sustained harmonies fed into a field of disharmony will harmonize the field”. Correcting and rebalancing our body frequencies empowers wellness.

Entrtainment:

Entrainment is an aspect of sound that is closely related to rhythms and the way they affect us. It is a phenomenon in which the powerful rhythmic vibrations of one object will cause the less powerful vibrations of another object to lock-step at its rate. This phenomenon of nature has to do with the conservation of energy. It is more economical in terms of energy to have periodic events that are close enough in frequency to occur in phase or in step with each other.

With entrainment, you are actively changing the vibrations (the frequency or rhythm) of one object to another rate. Within our own bodies, we are constantly locking in our own rhythms. Our heart rate, respiration, and brain waves all entrain to each other. Conversely, if you are able to slow down your brain waves, you can affect your heart rate and respiration. This is one of the principles of biofeedback. It has been found that the frequencies of the pulse, breathing, and blood circulation, as well as their combined activities, all function harmonically. Their rhythms are strictly coordinated in whole number ratios two to one, three to two.

The following is an excellent example of entrainment. If you have a few pendulums and start the pendulums in motion at different times, they will all swing differently at first and slowly start syncing together in unison.

Cymatics: The Effect of Sound on Matter

The word Cymatics derives from Ancient Greek, meaning wave. Throughout history, many researchers have observed and investigated the unique vibrational phenomena. Cymatics is a word coined by Dr. Hans Jenny, a Swiss medical doctor, who in his spare time investigated the connection between sound and form. Many consider his work to be the most influential and important regarding the capabilities of sound to shape substances.

Many of us might have seen an experiment, where scattered sand on a steel plate gets trembled through sound waves from a violin bow. The sand moves and takes on consistent geometric shapes. These experiments show the effects of sound waves upon many different types of material, including water, pastes, liquids, and plastics.

Vibrations and Water:

We are Vibrational beings living in a Vibrational world

We respond to the vibrational patterns around us. If they are discordant we react by feeling unpleasant. if the sounds around us are harmonious, meaning high vibration sounds, we are soothed. We know for a fact that the human body is over seventy percent water and sound travels five times more efficiently through water than through air.

Our fluid-filled cells vibrate continuously at their own unique resonant frequency.

Sound Healing is simply the use of external harmonious vibrational sound waves conducting through our bones and body water to encourage tension release, cellular reorganization and optimal harmonious tuning of each organ and the human biofield as a whole.

*Direct stimulation of living cellular tissue using sound frequency vibration has shown marked cellular metabolism and therefore a possible mobilization of a cellular healing response.

Emoto’s Messages from water:

Dr. Masaru Emoto, the Japanese scientist who revolutionized the idea that our thoughts and intentions impact the physical realm, is one of the most important water researchers the world has known. For over 20 years until he passed away in 2014, he studied the scientific evidence of how the molecular structure in water transforms when it is exposed to human words, thoughts, sounds, and intentions.

Dr. Emoto also studied how sound affects water. The Emoto music studies demonstrate how certain types of sound, like classical music, generate beautiful crystalline patterns, while heavy metal music, generate ugly and distorted crystalline formations. In the images below you see the crystalline formation resulting from water being exposed to Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and then in contrast what the water crystal image looks like after listening to heavy metal music.

Schumann Resonance:

In 1952, German physicist and professor W.O. Schumann hypothesized there were measurable electromagnetic waves in the atmosphere that existed in the cavity (or space) between the surface of the earth and the ionosphere. According to NASA, the ionosphere is an abundant layer of electrons, ionized atoms, and molecules that stretches from approximately 30 miles above the surface of the earth to the edge of space, at about 600 miles. This dynamic region grows and shrinks (and further divides into sub-regions) based on solar conditions and is a critical link in the chain of Sun-Earth interactions. It’s this “celestial power station” that makes radio communications possible.

In 1954, Schumann and H.L. König confirmed Schumann’s hypothesis by detecting resonances at the main frequency of 7.83 Hz; thus, the “Schumann resonance” was established by measuring global electromagnetic resonances generated and excited by lightning discharges in the ionosphere. While this phenomenon is caused by lightning in the atmosphere, many are not aware of the importance of this frequency as a tuning fork for life. In other words, it acts as a background frequency influencing the biological circuitry of the mammalian brain.

As far back as we know, the Earth’s electromagnetic field has been protecting all living things with this natural frequency pulsation of 7.83 Hz. You can think of this as the earth’s heartbeat.

The ancient Indian Rishis referred to this as OM or the incarnation of pure sound. Whether by coincidence or not, the frequency of 7.83 Hz also happens to be a very powerful frequency used with brainwave entrainment as it’s associated with low levels of alpha and the upper range of theta brain wave states. This frequency has also been associated with high levels of hypnotize-ability, suggestibility, meditation, and increased HGH (human growth hormone) levels, in addition to increased cerebral blood-flow levels while this frequency is being stimulated.

It seems that our nervous system can be influenced by the earth’s electromagnetic field. Maybe that’s why being in nature has always been so restorative and healing. Reducing our exposure to crowds, traffic, work and routine life and instead getting out in natural surroundings can slow our brain waves down from the aggressive, vigilant, anxious and impatient states that are seen in higher ranges of beta brain waves to more restorative alpha waves.
